New CFO Announcement at Tata Communications: Siddhartha Mundra to Take Charge
India's leading digital infrastructure provider, Tata Communications, has brought on board a seasoned finance and strategy professional to helm its financial operations. Siddhartha Mundra will first serve in a designate capacity beginning February 23, 2026, before fully transitioning into the CFO chair effective May 1, 2026.
The company's board greenlit this leadership move on February 10, 2026, after receiving favorable assessments from its Nomination and Remuneration Committee as well as the Audit Committee.
A Multi-Dimensional Career Spanning Over Two Decades
What sets Mundra apart is the breadth of his professional journey. With 22-plus years under his belt, he has navigated domains as varied as corporate finance, private equity investing, strategic advisory, operational leadership, and technology — giving him a rare combination of skills suited for a company operating at the intersection of digital infrastructure and enterprise solutions.
His most recent assignment has been at the Tata Group's apex holding entity, Tata Sons, where he has been contributing to the Group CFO and strategy function since late 2020.
A Path That Began in Tech
Mundra launched his career writing code at Cisco Systems in Bengaluru — an unusual starting point for someone who would eventually lead financial strategy at major corporations. This tech background later proved valuable as he moved through investment and private equity roles at ICICI Venture and Fairwinds Private Equity, eventually rising to head Shankara Building Products as its CEO.
Academic Pedigree
An IIM Ahmedabad alumnus with a management diploma, Mundra also distinguished himself early on by earning a Gold Medal during his undergraduate computer science program at NIT Warangal.
Company Expectations
Tata Communications' MD and CEO, A.S. Lakshminarayanan, noted that the incoming CFO's wide-ranging expertise positions him well to support the company's evolving business model and its push toward sustained growth.
Mundra, on his part, shared that he is eager to contribute to the organization's financial strategy and collaborate with the broader leadership in pursuing ambitious expansion goals.
