Air India Appoints Senjam Raj Sekhar as Global Communications Head; Partha Ghosh Moves to CEO Advisory Role
Air India has appointed Senjam Raj Sekhar as Global Head of Communications as part of its ongoing transformation under the Tata Group. Sekhar brings over two decades of experience across corporate communications and brand leadership, having held senior roles at Mobile Premier League, Flipkart, Vedanta Resources, Bharti Enterprises and Samsung. Meanwhile, former communications head Partha Ghosh has transitioned to the role of Advisor to the CEO, reporting to Campbell Wilson. The leadership changes strengthen Air India’s communications strategy during its global expansion and modernization phase.
Air India has named Senjam Raj Sekhar as its Global Head of Communications, reinforcing the airline’s corporate affairs leadership as it advances its multi-year transformation strategy under the Tata Group.
Sekhar confirmed his appointment through a LinkedIn announcement, highlighting the significance of joining the airline at a pivotal stage in its evolution. The move comes as the carrier accelerates efforts to modernize operations, enhance brand positioning, and expand its global footprint.
Seasoned Communications Leader Takes Charge
Sekhar brings more than two decades of experience in corporate communications, reputation management, and brand strategy. Prior to joining the airline, he served as Global Head of Communications at Mobile Premier League, where he led international communication initiatives for five years.
Over the course of his career, he has also held leadership roles across prominent organizations including Flipkart, Vedanta Resources Limited, Bharti Enterprises, and Samsung. His cross-industry background spans technology, telecom, consumer electronics, and natural resources.
In his new capacity, Sekhar is expected to oversee global communications strategy, narrative building, stakeholder engagement, and media relations as the airline repositions itself in international markets.
Partha Ghosh Transitions to CEO Advisor
As part of the leadership reshuffle, Partha Ghosh, who previously led global communications for the airline, has been appointed Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer. In this role, he will report directly to CEO Campbell Wilson and support the broader transformation agenda.
Ghosh indicated that his focus will shift toward strategic counsel at the executive level as the airline continues implementing structural and operational reforms.
Communications at the Core of Airline Reinvention
The appointments underscore the central role of corporate communications in the airline’s revival strategy. Since returning to Tata Group ownership, Air India has been pursuing a comprehensive overhaul encompassing fleet modernization, service enhancement, network expansion, and brand reinvention.
Strengthening the communications function is seen as critical to shaping stakeholder perception and reinforcing the airline’s global ambitions during this transition phase.
